"My passion for principle centered leadership that engages both the hearts and minds of people in workplace springs directly from my personal experience.  As a young engineering school grad, I struggled with finding my place as a leader in large organizations where I encountered little that truly inspired my mind or engaged my heart.

 A fortuitous lunch meeting in 1986 changed my view of leadership forever as I became part of the original Saturn leadership team that implemented their unique, highly engaged corporate culture.  It was there that I experienced firsthand the impact of principle-centered, value driven leadership--not only on myself but on everyone around me. My own energy, passion, creativity, commitment and sense of contribution skyrocketed.  The differences between this new way of leading and that which I had experienced in previous companies was astounding.  Ordinary people became outstanding contributors. Team work flourished.  Silos dissolved.  Suppliers, retailers and even the traditionally adversarial union, became true partners.  Years later, I heard touching testimonials from hundreds of people about how that way of working changed their lives for the better both personally and professionally. 

Having later spent time as an executive in more traditional organizations, I became amazed at the untapped assets that were just waiting to be unleashed.  I saw how efforts at even a team or department level could bring about huge gains in engagement, performance and satisfaction--even in tumultuous times.  And I realized how critical it is for leaders to have support, an objective second set of eyes, when leading through the rough, uncharted waters of today's world.

In 2007, I founded E. Miakinin Associates, LLC to pursue my passion for helping leaders at all levels bring out the very best in themselves, their people and their organizations.  The professionals I partner with for larger coaching, consulting or workshop assignments share this commitment.  We combine our hands-on knowledge and experience as executives who have lead the development of highly engaged organizations and changed deeply rooted cultures with expertise in coaching, team development, and facilitated learning to work with you to co-create the vision, strategy and actions that are right for you."

Prior to starting her own firm, Beth served as a Chief Engineer for Saturn Corporation and held a variety of other executive level positions in product development, quality and manufacturing during her 25+ years of corporate experience.  She has an Engineering Degree from the University of Michigan, has completed graduate level coursework in Counseling Psychology and received her coaching certification through the Newfield Network in Boulder, Colorado. She is credentialed through the International Coach Federation.  A life-long mid-westerner, she took a big plunge in 2009 and now makes her home outside of Seattle, Washington.
